My choice would be a female as well although I note that our female cattle dog is very adept at peeing on the ute's tyres if we have parked anywhere where other dogs have made their mark.

Unlikely to be bored with retiree home 24/7 I would think but maybe ask neighbours for report when your out.
Water a must 24/7 fresh and clean but kibble feeder I would disagree with.

@simgrund the big difference u will notice is that the home is no longer silent.

U will probably be like the rest of many dog owners and u will be saying things like :

excuse me madam that's my bath mat
sticky beak, get your nose out of the fridge
it's too early, look at the time
sorry madam daddy's a little late getting your dinner
tele time and sleepy time
on your bed little one

You have probably seen the ad on SBS for freeview plus where a chap is
talking to his clever dog called Dougy or Dougie.
Dog desperately tries to tell his owner that it's the green button.

Hope u also tell us her name.
Important that she knows it and responds to it, so I would suggest you use it often.
An important way to get her attention is to use her name.
