The reduction of net debt by USD700M in the 9 months to 30 Sept 2017 is quite impressive. See page 29 of the Investor info issued today by Santos which shows that most of the debt reduction was funded from the Operating cash inflow which was 973M. The only other inflows were the SPP for 148M and assets sales of 92M.
