Column 1 Column 1 Column 12017 ITRI Asia Tin Week to be held in Kunming, China- dates announced12th - 15th September 2017Although the tin price has been broadly stable between US $18,500 - $21,000 in recent months, there is the potential for significant change in the industry as a result of increasing global uncertainty and rising protectionist sentiment. China has cancelled the export duty on refined tin and is considering allowing processing trade of tin concentrate, in alignment with recent support for free trade by China’s Chairman, Xi Jinping. The supply side reform in China is continuing to impact production of metals. What kind of changes can we expect in the tin industry? How will tin demand be affected in the medium term by global economic and financial developments? Will the tin price break up or down? All these themes will be addressed during 2017 ITRI Asia Tin Week which will be held from 12th -15th September in Kunming, China. The event aims to provide information and a direction for the tin industry. The event, which is organised by the global tin association, ITRI, is expected to attract more than 300 delegates, including a sizeable contingent from outside China. This is the 5th ITRI event held in China following Hangzhou in 2011, Kunming in 2013 and Shanghai in 2015 and 2016. The event will include a market-oriented conference – The Asia Tin Summit – and a tour to the smelter of the Yunnan Tin Company. Other social activities during the conference will provide good opportunities for networking with other delegates. Please note the dates in your diary.
