Itally went into recession at the end of 2018. Italy's economy shrank in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2018 and is officially in recession. Actually I think in real terms Italy has been in recession for quite some time but the Italian government has been getting big loans via the ECB/IMF and probably the world bank. Germany is to announce its figures very soon and is widely tipped that it will tip into recession or be very close to going over the edge.
