I think you have got a few wrong facts there buddy.
Like England never settled in Australia. The land and all its riches were claimed by the British not the English.
And the the British ignored the fact that it was impossible for them (the British) to claim another people's nation lawfully unless they (the British) ignored the fact that they came after or had a legal treaty which was the legal means of claiming ownership in those days.
Otherwise you end up with a nonsensical legal term like terra nullius (nobody's land).
'Settle' means in the context you use it: 'to arrive, especially from another country, in a new place and start to live there and use the land. ' (Oxford Dictionary)
