I am sure you may get the answers on the challenges Lynas and I believe Molycorp has faced with thorium may be found on the Lynas forum.
The advantge CUX has is that the Thorium can be deposited back into the large amount of alluvial deposits returned to Charlie Creek deposit. This can be done with little change to the original background radioactivity levels. Remember the rare earth resource at Charlie Creek is about .05% and not all of that is recovered in the initial processes. The uranium can be extracted an sold as yellow cake.
My personal belief is the dangers associated with thorium have been dramatically overestimated by some environmentalists who relate thorium directly with uranium.
As rare earths are normally found with thorium and uranium, which you have an interest, I would suggest you also do more research on the topic. I would appreciate if you could share anything you find on the topic.
Cheers
