Thanks Bas, I appreciate the thoughts. My post wasn't initially meant to go in that direction but after remembering the conversation with my GP, my mind began to wander. You may be surprised but I bought my first stock at the beginning of 2017. I think if I had been doing this for 30 plus years and still hadn't managed to comfortably retire or at the very least semi retire I would be seriously rethinking my strategy or giving this game away entirely. As you know I had you and a few others on ignore for a while and then realised I was doing myself a disservice by not listening to all opinions and views. No matter how hard at times it may be to listen to views that don't match your own, I finally realised that all I was doing to put it mildly, was being ignorant. Surely I can use my own judgment to try and decipher whats true and what isn't. We all are in different professions, have different levels of experience in life and the investing game so isn't it more beneficial to listen to all opinions, no matter how contrarian they may be.
