Completely disagree. If you think the world is a world where other countries play by corporate rules of fair play you are truly naive. Countries have invaded other countries in the past "in order to protect their significant commercial interests". I think when russia went into afghanistan it said something of that nature.
Limits on foreign ownership in strategic assets which are effectively a monopoly are there for a reason.
Can you put up an argument that invalidates this reason?
