I am not a member of the board. I don't know anyone on the board or even anyone in the company. I am simply a shareholder.
Furthermore, I don't want to be seen as an apologist for the company. I get as cranky and upset at the setbacks NOD has experienced as any other shareholder.
Some of these setbacks were out of the company's control (such as the stregthening Aussie dollar) but many were not.
My position is that (in my opinion) they are selling the right product at the right time. I spend a lot of time reading history and it tells me that in past mining booms the real money is made by the people selling the picks and shovels, the food, the accommodation (and the alcohol and girls) to the miners.
The diggers themselves often make nothing (or very little) and the ones who make squillions often squander it.
How this boom plays out will be written in future history books, but I have taken my position and I am committing myself to it.
I have bought and sold NOD shares many times over the years, but had an uneasy feeling that they were overpriced and there was a level of arrogance at the top.
Nothing could be further from that now. The shares are at rock-bottom prices and the management have eaten a considerable amount of humble pie.
Entrust have put a considerable amount of money into NOD and I think they will do what is necessary to make sure they at least double their investment. (One of the reasons the share price is so low is that they sold considerable amounts before the market had recovered, and terrified everyone (including me) they were going to dump. The small amount they received from the sales was overwhelmed by the damage they did to the SP.) I suspect that they have learned a painful lesson.
I regret taking a bite out of you in my last posting,as everyone has the right to have their own view, but I tire of people who only whinge and say nothing positive. As in sport, support your team, or find another team. It as simple as pushing the "SELL" button.
For now, I think that we should let management get on with returning the company to profit and the confidence will return and the SP will rise.
Cheers and all the best, Blackpete
