Personally I think a merger between BOQ & BEN will be more beneficial - since both entities will cover the South-East of Australia (QLD, NSW, VIC & SA) there is more coverage and since both entities are banks it will be a like-for-like merger. I think a BOQ-SUN merger will only result in merger within QLD (where the bulk of the business dealings are) and also two different industries (while Suncorp has a banking division its primary business is insurance). The synergies from merging of operations will be greater with BOQ-BEN than BOQ-SUN.
