I like it too:
- Some fresh talent. Santos has always struggled to attract & retain good people, largely due to parochial SA and Queensland concentration. WA is more international, with well trained people from global leaders in key positions in smaller Australian co.s
- decent exposure to healthy oil reserves which are more profitable than equivalent gas, and in times of crisis, oil is in short supply whereas gas is dependent on exports. If shipping curtailed in a future escalated blockade of Australian shipping, then price of gas would plummet, but oil would rise.
- no sovereign risk
