I want just to add that OPA1 is a mitochondrion fusion protein, just what I would like PBT434 to be and as we know mdivi-1 is. This paper supports nicely the 2 y old paper ( "rubidium paper") by Roberts et al ( Masters included) demonstrating that Alzheimer's would be a energy crisis disease, not enough energy to pump amyloid away.
So excessive iron is bad : also in this study OPA1 was downregulated by excessive iron but this was reversed by an iron chelator. I do not think that the chelator was PBT434 in this study but PBT434 is planned to be safe and safer that the present chelators are.
