The article is interesting. Seems strange that a council has banned something that they have no say over. Approvals go through different state minerals and petroleum departments. At best they can reject an application to build some infrastructure which then goes to a state level and is usually approved. I wonder how much unbiased research the council did before putting the irrelevant ban in place. My guess probably none. Might get some councillors re-elected though.
