As promised, here are the key notes I took down from yesterday's conversation with David at TechKnow's Investor Conference:
- Oversubscribed prospectus (minimum amount) after just a week. The deal IS on! Ananda and co. are very happy with the interest.
- CMO/Director Chris Jones has just moved from Sydney to Seattle... Although he couldn't specifically tell me that a legally-binding agreement had been officially entered into with Starbucks, he said Jones' move and the announcement of Starbucks in his speech when explaining Thred was 'timely'. Take from that what you will.
- Uber was also mentioned when explaining Thred to investors, including a very specific $5 fee per booking when users book an Uber (or other taxi service) via Thred. Seemed too precise to be purely theoretical.
- Anyone still interested in the 'wages issue?' It was never an issue. The disgruntled ex-colleague of David's simply felt he was owed something in Thred when it took off even though David brought him to Hong Kong and helped to establish his career. This man was actually the godfather of David's daughters, too... I could see the hurt in David's face when he was explaining this to me. There was never an issue.
-Emphasised the deal with Office365 (of course) as an absolute game changer. Will allow Thred and Office365 users to collaborate/share/communicate about a project without having to minimise the Word or Excel window. A messaging and sharing panel will be built-in to the right hand side of the Office program's window. Ease of use is unparalleled. That's just one simple feature of the deal.
I also have a recording of the entire speech for those that are genuinely interested. Send me an email. Cheers, Aaron.
