Thanks for the tips. I had actually been eying AUI because it has a reasonable NTA:SP ratio (around 3% discount right now by my rough calculations).
black: I actually wasn't aware of that LIC CGT discount for dividends so thanks for that. It actually says 'may be entitled' to the discount, is that just some gibberish to cover their ass or do they actually not give it out to all people?
Also, as far as how CGT is calculated when you sell, i was under the assumption that ETFs didn't trigger this and you actually pay yearly when the company themselves have to buy/sell to rebalance.. where as LICs do trigger CGT when you sell (and are therefore eligible for the > 1yr CGT discount). An accountant said not to put any capital gains/losses on your tax return if you sell out of an ETF because you'll be double taxed.
I don't actually plan to sell out of any of these shares because they're obviously long term but it's always good to know everything before diving in.
