I am surprised that the author (being and oil and gas man) did not mention that Cobalt (CO) is a key catalyst in the Fischer-Tropsch process for converting natural gas to liquids.
In time when the oil market reverts to the mean, this technology will help stranded gas resources become viable and could become a frequently used technology in gas-to-liquids for more conventional gas plays
