Buffett is so well regarded because he has been successful for so long. Of course his style has adapted. This is something to learn in itself. There may not be the same opportunities today that he faced when he was younger but does this mean we should dismiss what he has done and not try to learn from him at all?
Is it not possible that some combination of opportunities occur in the future that are similar to those he faced when he was younger and by following what he has done then all these people who are trying to learn from him will be better placed to take advantage?
If you have decided that there is nothing worthwhile to learn from Buffett then what this is really about is intellectual arrogance. If you can dismiss what he has done and those people who are trying to learn from him, then it says it more about your deficits than anything else.
It is important to stay humble, study history and always keep learning because there is wealth of information available, not just from Buffett, if you are willing to be a student.
Just as a final point, this is not so much directed at you as at people in general who share these views. There seems to be this whole bandwagon of people who deride those who even mention Buffett and I don't understand why.
