I used to be a Velocys shareholder from the days when it was Oxford Catalysts Group and sold out at a profit - though it has climbed higher since .

Fischer Tropsch produces waxes which need to be put through a refinery . There are other integrated chemical processes which claim to produce an end product rather than an intermediate one .

I sold primarily because I felt that F.T. will be superceded and also because I see compressed natural gas being used for commercial vehicles instead of diesel .

Originally Gas to Liquids was an arbitrage of gas and oil prices .

Nowadays I see niche applications :-
- huge quantities of stranded methane in places overseas more inaccessible than the Derby block . Note that Velocys offerings still have to be manned .
- Small volumes of associated gas which can no longer be flared
- conversion of synthesis gas (CO + H2 , not methane) produced from gasification of waste or coal to liquids

Thanks for your post streibs,I like the modular construction and the portability.
On one of the links I posted yesterday the independent report highlighted the Gas to Liquids option.
IMHO I think its a viable method for OBL to monetise the gas resource.
I suspect OBL will be bought out before the current management get around to this option.
