MF, I have to agree with your anaylsis - SHE targeting markets like the Maldives makes a lot of sense when you're comparing competitive advantage to diesel fuel for generators and imported bottled water (or "conventional" desal) - both expensive.

I would still be very interested to see in this context:

1. What would be the capex and opex cost of a protean farm in the Madives be - in terms of c/kWh generated and litres of water generated
2. What is the expected revenue from both the electricity and the water generated (I know the units are rated at 1.5kW, but what is the actual output as an average % of capacity rating?)

Until that kind of information is published I find it hard to gauge how viable/profitable this technology will be.
