I respectfully suggest that you appear to be very literate despite your public education.
I also respect your placement of your children in what you regard as the best available schools - our kids are precious! As per my earlier post I am not launching into an attack on the performance of private schools & congratulate you on the importance you have attached to education.
Re; "..The teachers union has done nothing to use the exceptional teachers in my example as role models for the majority of under achievers but instead they protect the under achievers with an outdated first in first served mentality...."
I have only secondhand insight into the NSW system. In Victoria however your comments are very wide of the mark re the use of 'exceptional teachers' - if anything we overburden them with mentoring & leadership roles. Victoria has had school-based selection of staff since the days of Jeff Kennett; IMO a process hobbled in govt. schools by gross underfunding in disadvantaged areas.
Teacher unions are meant to protect their members & in Victoria also provide considerable training support. Although Principals are responsible for teacher performance with some systemic support, dealing with underperformance by staff in Victoria remains a massive issue - you probably don't want to know just how difficult it is to remove an incompetent teacher [I have had to do so btw].
