"- motivated & supported kids achieve excellent results - period, regardless of their school or teacher! "

"You may also be interested to know that education is developing into one of our export success stories because of the in initiative, dedication & expertise of our teachers & Principals. Government has merely added the bureaucracy to control it!"

My position is one of having achieved financial independence at age 45, thought I'd so some teaching, high school physics and maths. In the past, in other countries, I've taught and enjoyed it. In Queensland, I needed a 1 year graduate diploma to obtain teacher registration.

Well, what a disappointment!! The Education philosophy in Australia (or QLD anyway) is appalling. The only concern is on the dropout students, in part because of your attitude above regarding high achieving students. This belief is false, absolutely. High achieving students benefit from good teaching just as much as low achieving students do.

By focusing on the low achieving students, the education system in Aussie is going down the tubes, and I for one will have nothing to do with. Never mind the severe shortage of maths and physics teachers, I'm out.

As for the export success? This is precisely BECAUSE of the bureaucracy that has been added. Bureaucracy means control, so any country adopting an Australian system is doing so because it values the control that is possible in the system.

Sorry, but I've seen absolutely DREADFUL teachers in the QLD system getting promoted on the basis of working the system, and meanwhile scores of Australian students on international benchmark tests in Science and Maths are dropping.

Focus on the dropouts, and race them to the bottom!

The original poster had a good idea though - get ABC involved in this sector, because for sure, the so-called "education" system has little to do with teaching kids. At least it would be run more efficiently.
