I hear your comments and respect you have the background to comment. as a student of the public system (NSW) for my whole school life, i can tell you the majority of teachers i encountered did not care! (with a couple of notable exceptions) which is why my children go to a private school where it is the other way around.

The teachers union has done nothing to use the exceptional teachers in my example as role models for the majority of under achievers but instead they protect the under achievers with an outdated first in first served mentality.

IMHO, the faster we expose the school sector with meaningful metrics the more valuable our most valuable resources will be.
