What is interesting is that 2 previous investigations have indicated a resource of between 12.5 and 34 million tonnes for just 3 of the prospects on the MNB licences. (See page 3)

“In 1991, OMNIS, in partnership with the Soviet company Obidinenie Zarubezh Geologia, estimated at 34 million tons of ore and 629 thousands tons of bastnaesite the reserves of the Ankazohambo, Marovoalavo and Nord-Ifasina prospects (Protchenko, 1992). Solicited by the Madagascar Mining Investment Company, these estimates were revised to lower values (12.5 million tons of ore, 272.5 thousand tons of bastnaesite) for the same prospects by
Mikhaylov (2008); nevertheless, the economic interest of these mineralizations was confirmed.”

This would have been calculated off just limited shallow trenching and shafts, so I can see plenty of potential upside once the deposits are drilled properly.

Looks very interesting if MNB can define even 12.5 MT @ ~3% REE, given the favourable mineralogy (bastnasite)and what appears a high proportion of Nd-Pr, the important EV REEs.
