More drama at Smokey Hills, seriously PLA is cursed.

The Smokey Hills Mine ceased operations on the 22 July after the Department of Mineral Resources of South Africa (?DMR?) served a notice under Section 93 I (B) of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002, on the mine operator Phokathaba Platinum Pty Ltd. The DMR claim that Phokathaba has failed to comply with its Social and Labour Plan, including its Local Economic Development Projects and Human Resources Development.
Phokathaba insists there are no reasonable grounds for the DMR claim and after receiving legal advice believes that the notice under Section 93 has been served without due process or procedural fairness.
An urgent meeting has been sought with the DMR and is expected to take place on the afternoon of Monday, 25 July 2011. Phokathaba is also seeking urgent injunctive relief in the High Court of The Republic of South Africa.
Approximately 1,000 people are employed on the Smokey Hills Mine by Phokathaba and its contractors. Phokathaba is making all efforts to resolve this matter speedily and to resume production at the earliest juncture.
