As I had mentioned in my Post #: 4210791 from 29/06/09:
'Our management seems to know the game of geopolitics, which is crucial in this business IMHO. Europe is obsessed by energy independence ideas (my impression), and it's energy needs are predicted to grow, despite the crisis. The Russian President Mr Medvedev just happened to finish his 4 days African tour, accompanied mainly by large number of energy business officials, Iraq auctions coming ... There are a lot of facts to put together and play smart.'
The Nigerian-Gazprom Venture is decided to be called NiGaz. I recall somewhere was mentioned the Nigerian leader spoke Russian during the discussions. The point is Russia has a very strong position in some African countries. On another hand, Europe doesn't like all the pipelines, and all the energy resources it depends on, to be run by Russia. And then, there is China and India...
Bottomline - the competition for the African energy resources will be fierce!
Where are we in all that: in the right place at the right time! Oh! but they haven't signed the contract yet... I'll actually give them credit for that, as I think that they really know what they are doing.
