There seems to be a lot of people posting negative comments who declare that they do not have a financial interest in this stock. I find that usually when people have made their feelings known about a tragic event, if they don’t have some ulterior motive, they move on and use their valuable time for a more productive purpose.
If I were a suspicious person I might surmise that there was a concerted campaign to make the closure of DW a more acceptable outcome for the GC.
As a shareholder, I acknowledge that mistakes were made that resulted in a tragic outcome, and I would imagine all shareholders of AAD feel for the families involved. Although financial compensation cannot compensate for their loss, I hope at least it helps with their future.
Whether the continuing operation of DW as an attraction continues or not is a commercial decision that the Ardent management must carefully consider. Obviously safety and maintenance standards must be improved, which of course increases costs, and lowers margins. Therefore, as a stand-alone business DW looks marginal going forward.
The site would probably be more profitable for shareholders if turned into condominiums, light commercial and retail.
Whether that would be best for the area is probably not the case. Many jobs in hotels, restaurants, and other tourist venues depend on attractions like DW drawing people to the region.
All of that said, I wonder why, given they have said their piece, the trolls keep bagging the company and it’s management.
They may not have a financial interest in AAD, but they may have other motivation in creating an environment where the re purposing of the site is more acceptable.
