Absolute Rubbish. these guys all use radar above, which lacks the definition laser tracking offers. Someone once said it was a bit like your eye, the outer eye cells pick up movement (radar) and the inner eye cells enable you to focus (laser tracking).
The reason it's not patented is so no-one copies it. My understanding is it's a very complex piece of IP our of the CSRIO may yrs ago that no-one has been able to replicate since, yet many have tried.
It's the only piece of IP that has been certified by the US airforce, hence state of the art
