The streets of Srinagar had lots of police with machine guns. But up in the hills on the way to our hotel we only saw one army truck with about 15 soldiers.
The local ski guides and the main travel agent who helped me organise the trip do not seem fussed by the recent activity. Although the hotel was only about 40 percent booked compared to 90 we were told.
Such a shame that Kashmir is not as recognised for its beauty. Breathtaking scenery and one of the highest gondolas in the world. I can’t wait to hit the fresh powder tomorrow!

What was the landing like.... steep descent and ascend by large civilian aircraft. Typical military flying during my visit.
I didn’t expect too many Indian tourist to go there but the lack of other tourist surprised me, initially.
Our visit was a short time after a group of Israeli tourist were butchered by extremists .... we weren’t aware of it, until the host mentioned it.
Loved staying on the houseboats!
