Education estimates.....the Education Department have stated they are very pleased with the data on how the new Child Care Subsidy has increased the number of children attending care.

SBS reporting that about 2.5 per cent more children were attending childcare at the end of September than the end of June.

It was then up to one of Australia's best known advocates in early childhood education and care to examine those figures. His findings show that 2018 July - September quarter was the second lowest in the past 8 years.

All figures below are the increases from June - September from 2011 until 2018.

2011 - 28,650   2012 - 44,690   2013 - 53,200   2014 - 39,960   2015 - 45,020   2016 - 38,210   2017 - 44,510   2018 - 31,732

There is no doubt that G8 will report improved occupancy, but the concern is that they have reduced fees in some of those centre's to achieve this improvement. A quick check of their daily rates against those of their closest competitors, shows this to be the case.
