Keytruda is on the PBS now so cost is born by the Australian Government where applicable . already on PBS for treatment of unresectable Stage III or Stage IV malignant melanoma. From May 1, classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients will no longer pay over A$200,000($155,520) per course of treatment, now only paying a maximum of A$39.50 per script, with concessional patients – including pensioners – paying just A$6.40. In a lot of cases the government will get their money back with the recipient being an effective contributor to Society again . Having been down the natural path and spent thousands .. the natural path is better at prevention than cure. I find they are effective at softening the effects of treatment as well. Reading there are a lot of high cost immunotherapy options being considered for migration to China as in manufacturing and treatment for the lower cost profile .

Pharma pushes hard to get their drugs on the PBS because they'll get more customers and make more money as a result. And with taxpayers footing the bill most Australians don't know or don't care about paying for it. This is the winning formula for drug makers and vested interests.
