Some horses take time to adapt to different surroundings, change in their feed and supplements as well as different training techniques.
Takes a preparation at the new environment, sometimes.
Others cope.
and of course horses coming off the "good gear" will lose a length or two. Not suggesting that there is any involved anywhere.
