Sadly yes, there are more and more "needy" arising everyday...world wide. A whole lot of our own too as they fall through the cracks. Welfare rorting has become a sport in this country, much like tax evasion had became a sport in Greece and Italy. Tribal connections are a big part of what causes problems in poorer countries. My friend with the orphanage said she can't employ locals from different tribes as they will fight among themselves. A bit like the Serbians and the Croatians, or Catholics and Protestants from Ireland I guess...their hatred for one another can span continents. The sheer number of kids of all ages and adults that have fallen on hard times for one reason or another is staggering...most people are not aware, and many just don't care...I'm ok Jack... State Governments and local Councils are mostly aware but can't do anything about it...they can't afford to pay the Public Servants to do the work...without the army of volunteers doing the work society would be a lot worse off than it is...

Staggered to learn today that Australia has over 900 orphanages!!!! In my naivitae - I was thinking only one per captial city and some in other big centres - long way short of 900!!
