It's also an energy play for big oil. They want to sell you energy, regardless of the source. If you start using a charge point belonging to Shell, you might also use them for your house. There's a pretty big shakeup coming in energy. A growing electricity market and a reducing petrol and diesel one.
Big oil isn't going to let that opportunity pass. I expect them to start hoovering up some of the larger renewable energy companies before too long.
