Agree with the reporting. It would be good to get a factual report on the state of play over there. As far as I was aware, there should be mining operations continuing by our Indonesian partners that we should be getting revenue from - I can't see that they would have stopped with the gold price as it is (and yes, at ~A$1650 it is still a very very good price) - but like you say would be good to know the actual status of these things.
The hydraulic mining to commence in 1Q 2012 I assume is to do with the new equipment to be delivered which should see increased recoveries. From the photos, there are more than 20 lackees working there. It was even reported that hotels and brothels had started up in the area to look after the local miners - woohoo!!
As for getting heavy equipment to site, like everyone else in PNG, I assume WWI would use choppers to deliver into this area.
