Liz Millar's kelpie, Sally, was one of Dr Weir's first "patients". "Sally had a tennis ball-sized cancer in her liver," Liz said. "The surgeon couldn't remove it all and we wanted to avoid chemotherapy as she was already nearly 13 years old." Sally was treated instead with the vaccine. She has had no further cancer treatment and has enjoyed a completely normal life for more than two years, with no signs of a recurrence of the cancer. It's hoped that in time the ground breaking discovery may lead to the production of similar personalised vaccines to treat cancers in humans.
