If I spend $20,000 and buy 500,000 shares for 4 cents and I sell them for 4.4 cents 10 minutes later, my profit is a quick $2,000 for 10 minutes work. If I sell them at 5 cents, my profit is a quick $5,000 for a few hours work.

Now regarding a "Major" acquiring a "Minor" gold project like TAM in the middle of nowhere, I personally doubt that would happen in the near term.

TAM has a 116,000 ounce or 2 year mining inventory.

Their resource is 429,000 ounces in total, however all of that would not be economic.

Compare to AVO which is targeting FY2010 gold production targeting +190,000 oz at A$452/oz cash cost.

AVO have a resource base of 1,500,000 ouces targeting 2,000,000 ounces.

Yet the AVO market cap is $450M yet you are following the advice of someone stating the TAM market cap will be $700M by Xmas although TAM has only quarter of the resource and can only dream of A$452/oz cash cost.
