Been away until now visiting Acland/Acland mine. Mine tour very interesting and of course Acland in birthplace of Oz's fav DJ Alan Jones. Learnt lots and clearly the mine needs coal to increase in price before earnings return to even half prev levels. NHC world class outfit and nobody in the world can mine narrow vein seams like they do. Nobody. But the seams run as thin as 6cm with masses of 'party material' in between which needs removing. Thickest seam i saw was about 80cm (estimate). After coal is extracted the land is completely rehabilitated and the pasture turns out superb Aberdeen Angus cattle. They even plant bottle trees.
