It's a good question. I think the turnaround is working... However there is a long delay between turning a company around and making a profit in Telco. My gut feeling is that we will see an increase in subscriber numbers and a smaller loss. The ship has probably already turned around... Biggest problem for Vodafone this half year will be cost of 4G roll out sucking spare cash...and handset subsidies from iPhone 6 launch. Both of these things are short term pain for long term gain. Optus has become very aggressive on price, the flood of Optus MVNO's Amaysim, Virgin Mobile, Woolworths etc also providing lots of competition at the budget conscious end. Telstra seem to be holding ground despite a larger gap in prices than what we have seen for many years.
Optus aggressive pricing probably hurting the turnaround. I personally think that Optus are trying to buy market share at the moment. I think it is a poor strategy for Optus.. Will be an interesting half yearly report...
