I'm not making excuses for the company however below is an excerpt from an email I received yesterday. My best mate started off as a shotfirer and ended by becoming a mine manager and has worked in several countries. He married a girl from Sumatra and this is her plight. Crosses are in lieu of names
"....was arranging xxxx'x temporary residents card and family card thing to the registrar (I never realized I must do it...) It finished anyway, but take long time to arrange documents in government office here when an expatriate involved... if you don't give them more money, they will make it hard and longer...When you give them then they wants more... So, I just let it flow and wait then finally after about 2 months I got it finished,...Very frustrating...
I told xxxx, the comparison. I've been arrange family card when my first married with an Indonesian husband, then when I was widow.. all of them finished before 1 week... But this time, when I m with my expatriate husband... all turns very hard and long and full of bullshit from the officers who use many excuses to make it long as they think in stereotype that I live in luxury and just too meant to not share a bit of my luxury to them...
Now, we are in the middle renewal his temporary resident permits... Hopefully it will be finished soon and smoothly... Been in the immigration office then to the office of law and human rights to get approvals... Got it on Thursday, but still waiting the schedule to do the payment and take photo also fingerprints...Rang them couple days to ask when but they said the system has been error... Well, I hope it is the system, not the officer.... Not much worries about this as we are still have plenty time..His premit expired 19th next month...and all the process formally based on the regulation should be finished 1 week after after submission. 1 week in reality means 1 month...So, as I submit it on 4th this month, I think it will finished on the 4th December....
Sometimes I really want to get out of this country and live in Australia where I hope we can be treated fairer....If we must pay it is because the regulation set it... not because you are an expatriate or married to an expatriate.
Want to complaint, but don't know where as almost all like that here..."
And this is from a local.
If QPN were to publicly criticise the country, they'd be out on their a before they knew what happened and would forfeit everything, with no redress.
As to why a junior with no "clout" would want to conduct exploration in Indonesia has got me beat.
Cheers........
