I think they have an alright product, but that is only one part of the equation to becoming successful. The management shows fairly poor judgement with decisions in regards to shareholders and appear to put their own agendas/objectives ahead of what might be best for the shareholders/company. I feel like there is a lot of things going on in the background here and that they aren’t being completely honest or up front with shareholders with what the game plan here is.
From a marketing stand point I think they are sluggish to say the least, they haven’t been very open with their expansion plans to the east coast or with how much they intend to spend on this. Gage Roads unfortunately isn’t as hip as say 4 Pines, Colonial or Two Birds because of its tie with Woolies/BWS but maybe this will gradually change? I think Gage Roads (at least in Perth, has an image problem).
Going forward though, if there is success on the east coast, it doesn’t seem very economical long term to continue producing on the west coast and shipping the bulk of their product across the Nullarbor. To truly be successful in Australia they would need to follow what Little Creatures and Colonial did and move production east. In my opinion that will be the sign when the true growth will happen.
Those are just a few reasons why I am not sure yet if I will buy in again…
