I have the same problem but have already gone ahead and done this. I sold my shares to realise my losses then my interest in the stock suddenly got rekindled and I bought back in again : ) I am going to speak to my accountant about it but I dont see how it is any of the ATOs business how I realise a loss. Hopefully I am not wrong, but if so I will post back here so you can have a laugh at what not to do : )
