Absolutely canonman, profits are the main aim although I've seen plenty of people get burnt trying to pick the highs and lows of really great businesses and spend lots of money on brokerage doing it.
I realise that buy and hold investing isn't so exciting although I don't believe myself to be so clever as to accurately and consistently pick these sale and re-entry prices.
