You can't eat carbon credits big fella! Its that simple. The question is this and one that investors need to be clear on - can the land that COZ is hoping to convert to mallee plantings be used for other crops?

Forget sandalwood for the time being so we can isolate any self interest I have and I don't deny this. Lets look at other commodities that currently use this land resource. Wheat at US$10/bu (all time highs), Barley at equalivalent prices (all time highs), sheep prices now heading for all time highs, beef cattle prices set to surge to all time highs. Even hay is trading at record prices. You don't need much rain to be able to turn in exciting gross margins even in this early stage of the agricultural bull market.

Do you think carbon payments will compete with the gross margins achievable for each and all these commodities? Even with drought affected yields.

The answer is a resounding NO. SO answer the question - How are they going to get the land? Woodside is good at producing oil and gas but they wouldn't have a monkey on the Terrace that knows a single thing about managing a land resource profitably!

Will the sandalwood industry get accredited? NO because food pays more and it ain't complicated to get accredited for that!
