Hutchison Telecommunications has significantly raised the data allowances under wireless broadband plans on its "3" service. The move could spark a price war in the mobile broadband segment between Australian telcos including Singtel Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, as well as dedicated wireless providers Unwired and iBurst. The basic product by "3" for $A29 a month now includes one gigabyte of data, up from 200 megabytes. At the same time, the two-gigabyte plan will be reduced in price from $A69 to $A49 a month. The move comes after Hutchison recently upgraded its broadband network infrastructure.
