@Cabbie and others
Yr post re RSI div reminded me of a sequence of charts I did looking at major pivots on the XJO and looking at several TA "things" I was broadly interested in .... just searched and found the charts from the study and it was in Jan 2017 (probs posted on the XSO or maybe the XJO forum back then?)
basically I was looking for "what works" ... is there a consistent method for picking the major pivots?
I looked at:
-trend lines
-candles
-a bit of Andrews fork work
-volume
-RSI
-Maybe a cuppla other things if they "stood out"
From memory I just picked the major pivots by eye probs on a weekly scale and then analysed daily charts.
At the time I was not a huge fan of momentum indicators but by far the biggest surprise to me was the frequency that RSI divergence was evident at the pivots and it is now the only indicator I look (of course I am not including volume or horizontal or oblique support lines in my definition of "indicator"; they are my 1st line of TA )
I now look for and trust RSI Div as much as any form of TA analysis .... & as you say the cross of the 70 line at the top and 30 line at bottoms is a special form.
Anyway here are the charts in case of interest to anyone? The weekly charts show the major pivots (with an incorrect note saying "XSO" cf "XJO") and the daily show the study.
FWIW I note that forms of RSI div were evident on at least the Dow,, SPX, DJT, NDX, XJO, R2K, XAO charts at the
recent 2018 highs and is one of the reasons that I have basically moved to cash in the last month or so.
Cheers g
