    Your observations are I suspect the reason Big Air, then NuSkope, and SkyMesh were acquired. The fibre assets will all make money in the long term but investors want returns in the short term. Hence the aforementioned were acquired to bring revenue today, otherwise you'd have a business with long-term strategic assets without any meaningful revenue for quite some time.

    Having said that I'm not negative on the consumer businesses.

    One way or the other NBN margins will improve. Either Govt takes a write-down or retail prices will increase (Telstra would lead this). In all likelihood this will happen this year, soon after the federal election.

    So it's my belief that SLC is setting itself for that eventuality. Right now NBN is not an interesting business to be in (see VOC's soft withdrawal) but that could totally change in 6 months.
