Nameuser, are you suggesting some kind of anti-mining activism?

We have pretty bad mining in Finland like Talvivaara-Terrafame with
    1,5 billion tons of acid forming black schist waste (9%sulphur - > 30mass %
    sulphuric acid).
On the other hand when compared to the size of the operation
and number of spoiled lakes, Dragon would be the worst mining company in Finland.
I think this is a common view even within the mining industry in Finland.

In Finland and in EU we have legal system, which should prevent the ever lasting
problems, so possibilities to achieve something useful are here.

I agree, that there are huge problems in developing countries, but
possibilities to affect these are usually slim. Environmental organizations
are working on the matters in developing countries, too.

I don't accept argument that bad mining should be accepted anywhere because
you use metals. Especially mankind really does not need an ounce more gold for
    centuries.

The high Frazer Institute ranking, mentioned by millie34au above, is not good for
Finland or any country, it just attracts more bad mining companies.

So there is some international co-operation, if you know a bad issue in a developing country
and would like to participitate/contribute. You suggest a case.
