The only way for a jump in offgrid takeup is if it is economically viable.
That means enough battery storage to run a Fridge, Stove, Home entertainment system and a few lights all at the same time.
That is fairly normal use.
So far offgrid systems are not economically viable and it is because of the storage.
Then there is the replacement of batteries, how long do they last before replacement.
How long do the solar cells last before their output falls off as they do over a number of years.
Add the ongoing costs as I outlined above plus the purchase and instillation price and you can see it is not cheaper than using generated power.
