It was about the development of AC power vs DC power.
Thomas Edison was developing a power network based on DC power.
He would not invest in AC power becaused it was considered dangerous and he had invested too much money and himself in the DC option.
Along came Tesla with a AC generator and proposed that to Edison who dismissed it.
Tesla then married his AC power station with the newly invented transformer and the power system we know so well today was created.
I a see a similiar scenario with power storage. All it needs is some bright spark with a good idea and the whole power generation model will change.
