marchell0, no problems at all, you can say what ever you wish. of course I support it's use. I think if the macro backdrop was different and stocks were going up, nobody would care. they'd probably be pretty happy that bots kept ticking the share price higher. split or algo orders are not the problem.

no you don't pay for each micro trade. you have an order with one brokerage charger/rate that is executed in many parts. that's all. and it help to average a price and reduce the 'execution risk' of an order. it's no big deal.

at what point does it stop being 'buying' and start to become 'manipulation'? $5, $50, $500? how is that $ decided? by the brokerage rate your broker charges you.

if you knew how to code, or could afford a whiz bang programing team to build some complex algo to search out other algo's you can do that to. there's no 'rules' to say you can't. it is a free market.

this manipulation gets posted over and over and over again on hc. and one or twice I've posted something to respond. no offense to any posters at all, but the tools are there if you want them, if investors choose not to use them, for whatever reason, they shouldn't really call out 'unfair' or 'illegal' trades. because it's not.

It just sounds a lot like my broker friend situation
